We’re looking for a Director of Quality to work closely with our Chicago Laboratory staff to lead a quality program to ensure products and services meet Omega Yeast standards.

Overview

Director of Quality oversees the quality of our products and services with a focus on quality, consistency, efficiency and regulatory compliance.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Manage Quality department scheduling and task delegation.
  • Participate in hiring, training, and periodic review of Quality department personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and monitor testing to ensure purity and vitality of microbiological cultures.
  • Identify deviations and work with Production staff to devise corrective and preventative actions in response.
  • Compile detailed records in compliance with FDA regulations.
  • Track and trend testing results, and present data to ownership.
  • Manage Quality department scheduling and task delegation.
  • Participate in hiring, training, and periodic review of Quality department personnel.
  • Create and maintain up to date training programs and SOPs.
  • Lead improvement projects targeting quality, efficiency and organization.
  • Collaborate with R&D in the development of assays and experiments to improve quality practices.
  • Maintain inventory of essential supplies and equipment.
  • Collaborate with ownership, sales, and R&D to address customer feedback
  • Sustain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Represent the company at trade shows and industry conferences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Passion for craft beer.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology, Food Science, or related field.
  • 5 years experience in Quality role in the Food and Beverage industry.
  • Experience in managing staff and inventory.
  • Understanding of brewery operations.
  • Ability to contribute to a positive team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to be on your feet for long periods of time, bend and kneel, and spend long periods of time in a hot, noisy environment.
