Job Summary
The Packaging Technician executes the routine functions of the Packaging department, including daily autoclave operations, packaging yeast from propagation vessels, and keeping up the general cleanliness and maintenance of production areas and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the aseptic processing and packaging of yeast pitches to customer specifications.
- Thoroughly completes all sanitation and product documentation required to maintain compliance with regulatory agencies.
- Ensures orders are labeled and packaged correctly by cross-referencing order details.
- Works closely with the Quality Department to ensure all yeast meets quality standards prior to shipping.
- Collaborates with Orders, Shipping, and Quality Departments to ensure orders are being filled and shipped as scheduled.
- Monitors and maintains excess yeast inventory.
- Efficiently run autoclave operations.
- Prepares propagation vessel’s aeration apparatus.
- Cleans and sterilizes propagation vessels and production equipment.
- Performs all department tasks in line with SOPs and best safety practices.
- Participates in ongoing efforts for continuous improvement in our processes.
- Communicates and collaborates with other departments in order to meet production demands.
- Stays current with all SOPs and related documentation.
- Maintains a clean and organized workplace.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Prior production facility experience preferred.
- Must have a GED or high school diploma.
- Proficient with Google Suite or related software.
Physical Requirements
- Must have the ability to bend, squat, and kneel throughout the work day.
- Lifting or maneuvering objects and materials weighing up to 50lbs.
- Must have the ability to sit or stand for 8 – 10 hours each day.
- Must be able to work in a warm environment (up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit) for hours at a time.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
