Overview
The Production and Packaging Technician is responsible for the cleaning and sterilization of materials used for yeast propagation and the packaging of propagation vessels based on the specific needs of our customers.
Accountability
The Production and Packaging Technician reports to the Packaging Manager and Director of Operations.
Responsibilities
- Performs tasks relating to propagation of commercial yeast pitches from inoculation to packaging
- Understands product lineup and behavior of yeast strains
- Performs the daily tasks associated with the packaging and shipment of yeast and bacteria in accordance with established SOPs
- Cooperates with laboratory staff to meet deadlines for commercial orders
- Performs all packaging related tasks according to SOP and End of Day checklist
- Pays close attention to order details while packaging and labeling products for shipping
- Cleans and sanitizes packaging materials and workspace
- Cooperates with Project Manager to order supplies
- Completes documentation required to maintain compliance with regulatory agencies
- Cleans production and packaging equipment prior to sterilization
- Operates autoclaves to sterilize vessels and equipment
- Cleans and performs routine maintenance on autoclaves
- Communicates with laboratory staff to autoclave liquid media according to specification
- Cooperates with laboratory, production, and homebrew staff to ensure all necessary equipment is prepared and available when needed
- Proactively addresses issues that may affect product quality, delivery delay, or employee safety
- Participates in ongoing efforts for continuous improvement in our processes
- Stays current with all SOPs and related documentation
- Maintains a clean and organized workplace
Requirements
- Adaptable and able to efficiently manage time and tasks
- Able to be on you feet for long periods
- Able to bend and kneel
- Able to work a schedule of four 10 hour shifts, inclusive of one weekend day
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Sunday — Wednesday shift
