Omega Yeast Labs is looking for a Quality Laboratory Technician to conduct daily quality testing. At Omega Yeast, we pride ourselves on the quality of our products. The Quality Laboratory Technician will be integral in ensuring the consistency of our yeast by analyzing every batch at every step of propagation.

Overview

The Quality Technician is responsible for monitoring product quality throughout the propagation process

Accountability

The Quality Technician reports to the Director of Quality

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily microbiological testing with a focus on aseptic technique, including sample collection, media preparation, plating, and microbiological identification
  • Perform daily quality checks to monitor propagation performance
  • Troubleshoot quality issues and report any out-of-specification results to the Director of Quality
  • Isolate and document out-of-specification product and collaborate with the Director of Quality on managing product holds and releases
  • Accurately document data required to maintain compliance with regulatory agencies
  • Ensure that equipment is calibrated and working properly
  • Identify areas for possible improvement within the Quality Department as well as the production process
  • Collaborate with the Production Office Coordinator and Production Lab staff to maintain inventory of essential supplies and equipment
  • Ensure a clean and organized workspace

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, or related field
  • 1 – 2 years of experience in a quality laboratory environment
  • Microbiology experience a plus, but not required
  • Ability to operate basic laboratory equipment and perform routine equipment maintenance
  • Familiarity with Excel or similar spreadsheet software

Requirements

  • Adaptable and able to efficiently manage time and tasks
  • Able to lift 55 pounds repeatedly and maneuver up to 165 pounds
  • Able to be on you feet for long periods
  • Able to bend, kneel and climb stairs
  • Able to work a schedule of four 10 hour shifts, inclusive of one weekend day
  • Passion for craft beer
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Wednesday — Saturday shift
