Postition Objective
The purpose of this position is to grow the sales and profitability of the Craft Beer yeast & ingredient business for AB Biotek (https://www.abbiotek.com) and Omega Yeast (https://omegayeast.com) through a mix of business development, technical selling, and networking activities.

Performance Standards

Business Development: 40%

  • Identify new potential business through prospecting and fully understanding customer needs and requirements.
  • Present our solutions to meet the brewers’ needs, arrange brewery trials, and foster strong customer relationships.
  • Facilitate the successful introduction of new products by coordinating brewery trials with customers and key accounts as well as lab trials internally and with relevant third-party institutions.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation & provide concepts to the Innovation Team.
  • Communicate market & competitive trends; recommend market-relevant pricing.

Technical Sales: 40%

  • Position Omega Yeast’s unique technologies through a consultative approach to help brewers develop new beer styles as well as improve operational efficiencies.
  • Provide technical sales support to brewers to help drive growth: both vertical (within existing customers) and horizontal (new customers).
  • Win new customers in the Regional and Micro Brewery segments by building strong relationships with key opinion leaders.
  • Close sales though a consultative selling approach.
  • Provide accurate and timely sales forecasts.
  • Maintain records of customer communication & sales activities.
  • Achieve budgeted sales targets while ensuring selling expenses are within budget.

Network Activity: 20%

  • Primary responsibility for development of and maintaining strong relationships with key accounts.
  • Actively participate in national and regional brewery trade associations.
  • Develop technical sales materials and/or adapt to specific market requirements.
  • Company representation at trade shows and exhibitions.

Essentials Skills and Knowlege

  • Bachelor’s degree in biotechnology, microbiology, brewing, distilling, and/or a related discipline. Or minimum 5 years industry-relevant experience.
  • Experience in B2B sales in the beverage supplies, food ingredients industries is highly desirable.
  • Experience in managing budgets.
  • Experience in maintaining productive working relationships throughout a manufacturing & supply-chain company.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English. Ability to write and speak other languages is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and show initiative.
  • Proven ability to multi-task.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and talk, hear and smell. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is sometimes exposed to airborne particles and chemicals. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.
  • Significant travel required.
  • Positions sought are for the Northeast and West regions.
