Yeast Propagation Technician

Omega Yeast Labs is looking for a Yeast Propagation Technician to join the team in propagation of brewing yeast and bacterial cultures for commercial customers and home brewers.
  
Omega Yeast Labs was founded in 2013 and has grown rapidly to supply brewing yeast cultures to commercial breweries and home brewers all over the US and Canada.

Title: Yeast Propagation Technician 
Status: Full-time, non-exempt
Location: Chicago

Responsibilities:
Performs tasks relating to propagation of commercial yeast pitches from inoculation to cropping.
Perform laboratory sampling and yeast counts.
Perform quality control analysis of outgoing pitches.
Packaging of yeast for the home brew market.
Cleaning and sanitization.
Cooperate with Laboratory Technician staff to meet deadlines for commercial orders.

Requirements:
Passion for craft beer.
Bachelors Degree in Microbiology or brewery experience in quality control testing preferred but not required.
Knowledge of aseptic technique preferred but not required.
Willingness to work a flexible schedule including weekends.
Able to lift 55 pounds repeatedly and maneuver up to 165 pounds.
Able to be on your feet for long periods of time.
Able to bend and kneel.
Spending long periods of time in hotter than comfortable environments.
Adaptable and able to efficiently manage time and tasks.
Pay is commensurate with experience.
