How the new Terms of Use works and what it means for you.
Omega Yeast’s Engineered strains provides options for brewers to make their jobs easier and to unlock new experiences. Each strain is the result of a continuous pipeline of R&D. To continue building out the Engineered series, we’ve implemented Terms of Use for these strains, with a licensing option to allow breweries to propagate and step up strains in-house.
This provides brewers with the tools to brew better, and it allows us to expand our R&D pipeline to keep things fresh, healthy, and unique.
One agreement. Unlimited innovation.
All breweries must sign the Terms of Use to order Engineered strains from Omega Yeast.
If you are just using our Classic strains, this does not apply. Carry on.
The good news.
Your reporting and fee obligations depend entirely on the pitch sizes you order. Breweries can avoid all reporting and licensing fees by ordering full brewhouse batch size pitches.
If your answer is no—brew as normal. Simply order full brewhouse batch size pitches with no additional requirements.
If your answer is yes—order pitches as small as 1 bbl, keep track of your production, and pay licensing fees each quarter.
Reach out to your local Omega Yeast rep or email us at orders@omegayeast.com and we’ll send you the Terms of Use via Docusign.
No, this only applies to Engineered yeast strains.
There’s a per barrel fee based on the technology of each Engineered strain. Licensing fees start from the first barrel produced. See above for fees.
Complete and submit the quarterly reporting form we send you along with applicable licensing fees. Submissions are due 30 days after the end of the quarter.
Yes. Every brewery using Engineered yeast strains must have a signed copy of the Terms of Use on file prior to ordering.
Sure thing, just give us a one-week notice with their details (legal name, address, contact info). You’ll handle the reporting and fees, and the contract brewery needs to sign the Terms of Use as well.
The program doesn’t allow banking Engineered strains, whether you do it in-house or with a third party.
