FAQ

  • What's the difference between Homebrew and Probrew strains?

    Because homebrewers should choose what they want to brew based on their imagination rather than our production schedule, all of our strains are available year round.

    HOMEBREW

    Homebrew strains in our sortable and searchable list of yeast strains are available in any quantity of packs per strain. They are subject only to the minimum order quantity of ten (10) packs per order (same or assorted).

    We now have twenty-five (25) strains in our homebrew collection.

    PROBREW

    Probrew strains that do not also appear on the homebrew list are available year round and to homebrewers, too, they're just prepared a little differently, which affects how you order them as a homebrew retailer: we custom propagate these strains when you order, which produces about 30 packs. Because they are produced for you specifically when you order, a minimum order size of 30 packs per strain is necessary (any number of packs above 30 is fine, meaning multiples of 30 are not necessary). Gathering customer pre-orders can be helpful for these strains for some retailers.

    We currently have forty-seven (47) unique Probrew strains (pro strains that are not also on the homebrew list).

  • What is your product size?

    Each of our packs contains 100mL liquid yeast slurry. Our packs are the same width as other liquid homebrew packs but are a little taller. Each pack is packaged with the optimal number of viable yeast cells to ferment 5 gallons of wort up to 1.060 OG.

  • Do you have an order minimum?

    Our minimum order is only ten (10) packs. We keep it as low as possible to give you flexibility to manage and move inventory while growing a repeating order cycle. We’re here for the long haul and our yeast is top notch. Let us know what we can do to help to get you up and running.

  • Do you have price breaks?

    Yes! We have started a new price break for orders greater than fifty (50) packs in total. Please contact us for details!

  • How do I maximize product vs. shipping cost?

    If you order at the maximum quantity per box size you’ll get the most out of the shipping cost since the box size and the number of boxes in a shipment increases cost much more than additional weight.

    We have four (4) box sizes holding a maximum of about 35, 70, 125, and 220 packs each. We're always working to provide additionally discounted rates with UPS based on bulk shipping, discounts which we pass on to you. We charge actual shipping costs and do not add extra fees.

  • How do I set up an account?

    It’s pretty easy—complete the form on our How to Order page to become a customer. Or you can email us at orders@omegayeast.com for a username and password. You’ll receive a welcome email with login information shortly thereafter with welcome instructions.

  • How do I order?

    Home brew shops can place orders directly through their own customer accounts. Just login with your username and password and select from our home brew strains. If you need a username and password, email us at orders@omegayeast.com and we’ll set you up!

  • I am not getting confirmation emails and/or tracking numbers.

    Assuming it’s not the occasional mysteries of the spam folder, have you checked what email address the confirmations are being sent to? Login to your profile and check (while you’re there it never hurts to make sure all your contact, shipping and billing information is up-to-date).

  • ​Why can’t I see any strains to shop from in my customer account?

    Shoot us an email and we’ll fix that stat: orders@omegayeast.com.

  • When will my package ship?

    We package and send homebrew orders on Mondays and Tuesdays to allow shipments to arrive before the weekend (so they are not held on a mail truck overnight). Typically, if you order on a Monday, your packs will ship in the following two (2) days. Alternately, if fresh inventory needs to be replenished to fulfill the order, the order will generally ship out the following week. You will receive a confirmation email when the order is placed and also the moment the items ship.

  • Do you have any recipes for our recipe book?

    You bet! Feel free to use any of the recipes we have posted here in the recipes section of our website in your in-store recipe books, your newsletters and wherever else they prove useful and informative content for your brewing community. In fact, if you use any Omega Yeast strains in recipes or other educational content that you or your team develop and make available to your customers and community, let us know. You may be eligible to earn yeast pack credits for the packs you used to develop those resources.

  • Can I distribute ProBrew pitches to commercial brewers in addition to HomeBrew?

    For commercial quantities, we prop fresh at the custom calculated scale at which a commercial brewer is brewing. There are a lot of considerations both before and after brew day for the brewer and brewery that determine what yeast at what pitch and when it should arrive. Getting all of those factors right, with healthy, fresh, expertly propagated yeast, delivered as quickly as possible requires direct communication with the brewer. We don't currently see an opportunity for distribution of commercial-sized pitches, but we’re always open to talking about anything. If you think there’s something we’ve missed, hit us up!
